Welcome to my *Mom Blog*

Hi! Welcome to my blog, and thank you for reading. My name is Miriam, but people call me Mir. I have a little baby girl named Michelle, but Daddy and I call her Mush. She is 7 months old. I have always loved journaling, so I thought it would be fun to write about all the things I’m learning as a new mom. Hopefully this page becomes interactive and other moms can weigh in, or ask for advice, or vent about the hard stuff.

A little bit about me: I am a major foodie, and have worked in restaurants for the majority of my career. I just stepped away from my role as a restaurant general manager to be a more active and involved mother. I also love beauty and fashion. I really want to go to cosmetology school, even though I am like twice the age of the average student. I’m still a bad bitch though, so who cares. I have big dreams for myself and my family, and I think of myself as a woman that wears many hats. But ever since that little baby came (slowly!) wiggling out of me, nothing defines me as much as motherhood.

I am Mush’s mommy. And all of the other parts of me still definitely exist. And finding the balance of my identity as Mir but also my identity as a mom is kinda hard, and messy. And really fucking weird. And I guess it has a name – matrescence. Which is basically like adolescence, except for moms. We’ll get into that later, along with lots of other thoughts and opinions.

For now, I just want to say, thank you for giving me the time of day. As a new mom, I fully realize that time is a super limited resource. I would absolutely love to know who’s reading, so please leave a comment and let me know where you’re from, and what stage of motherhood you are in. And if you want, tell me what else defines you. Because we are moms first, but like, we’re bad bitches too.

xoxo,

Mama Mir ♥
